Transmuting Negative Self-Talk Into Joyful Affirmations.

(Includes excerpts from the 1st edition of my book, “Your Official Invitation to the Joy of Life, Details Inside…”)

Lisa paid Faye a compliment, Faye’s first thought was …what did she mean by that? Is she really insulting me? I knew I looked fat in this dress! More often than not, we have a tape of negative self-talk playing in our minds. What if other people spoke to us in the manner with which we speak to ourselves? What if a stranger on the street approached you and said, “Gee, you sure are having a bad hair day!” Picture if the Waiter at the restaurant in which you were a patron said that he refused to serve your food because you were a pig and you ate like a cow at breakfast yesterday. Imagine if the local Bank Teller told you that because you were over weight you were incapable of finding love? When viewed this way, these statements seem outlandish and preposterous and indeed they are. However, these statements do not account for one third of the awful self-talk we partake in daily.

What about all of the wonderful, amazing and marvelous things concerning self that we rarely honor? Instead of consistently sulking about how deficient we are / have been in some areas, we can choose to focus on how extremely effective we are in others. Instead of spreading ourselves thin to meet several obligations, we can choose to honor ourselves enough to take on only those tasks that we can meet with joy and in a timely manner. Doing so will allow us to concentrate on the obligations at hand which will allow us to be in the present moment. I once read in a book entitled, “Ask Your Angels” by Daniel, Wyllie & Ramer that “God does not want us to be perfect. God wants us to be present.”

We complain about trivial marks or negative perceptions about our beautiful fully functioning bodies when we can give thanks that our bodies work without the assistance of Doctors, Nurses and machines. Perhaps your body works because of the assistance of Doctors, Nurses and or machines, how about giving praise for that? An attitude of gratitude is sure to bring our desires closer to us just as sure as the energy of desperation and explosiveness is sure to push them away with the same accuracy. Each and every day we have been afforded with gifts accessible only in the present moment.

We can choose to transmute negative self-talk by replacing the harsh mental conversations with daily mantras and affirmations. Focusing on the areas of our lives in which we are efficient will allow us to pin-point our strengths. I encourage you to write them down and repeat them to yourself aloud several times a day, giving particular focus in the morning and at night. Our minds believe what they’ve been fed in consistent repetition. Remind yourself that you are not the General Manager of the Universe, therefore you do not have to keep score of everything you “didn’t do right” by playing that useless tape whenever it’s time to do something new. Instead, we can choose to release thoughts which no longer serve us.

I encourage you to step into the illuminous loving light of your consciousness. Create your amazing affirmations and mantras to help you beautify your Purposeful and Powerful Life. If anyone can do it, you can do it! Go For the Gold Baby!!! Separation is an illusion. You are connected to the Great I AM Presence, therefore, you are in the field of Infinite Possibilities! Did I mention that you are beautiful? Just about anything you set your mind to, you can do. …you’ve already been told that anyone whose got to where he/she is started from where he/she was. You’ve given it enough thought; it’s okay to take steps toward your goals. Transmute the negative into positive. Add some joy to your life by beginning today.

With Love & Gratitude,
Joy Liani Hallman
