As a qualitative researcher focusing on the psychological effects of media on  women's self-esteem, she offers positive tools to assist this population with lessening harmful results.  To help address challenges, Dr. Joy provides counseling to adults and dance for students ages 4+.  A professional choreographer and dancer who has performed with major recording artists, for the last 10 years, she’s served as co-leader of Movement of Agape Dancers for the Agape International Spiritual Center under the direction of transformational world renown leader, Rev. Michael Bernard Beckwith.


As a means of increasing self-esteem through the Arts and Education, Dr. Hallman has created & worked with many programs in multiple cities spanning from Camden, New Jersey to Southern California to address academic, career, personal, spiritual, and social needs of clients. Her love of Dance is inspired by Debbie Allen of Debbie Allen Dance Academy where Dr. Joy worked as faculty member for 5-years prior to creating the Joy of Dance! Studio in Los Angeles which focused on increasing self-esteem for underserved students for 3-years.

 

To reduce recidivism, Dr. Joy supports restorative justice and has worked at all of the jails in Los Angeles,CA.  Likewise, as a Psychology, Sociology, Research Methods & Humanities professor whose taught 23 university classes & worked as a Subject Matter Expert for Research Methods for Social Science. Dr. Joy is an HBCU Grad she is an advocate for education who assists high-school students with the college going process which has resulted in hundreds attending campuses throughout the United States with majority studying at Historically Black Colleges/Universities.   Her efforts have been recognized with multiple awards as well as commendations throughout Los Angeles County. 


Furthermore, Dr. Joy enjoys co-choreographing and dancing with sorority sisters of Alpha Kappa Alpha and along with her sisters, they hold the, Cali Greek Picnic Stroll Off Champion title. She resides in Dallas, TX.
